Diane Duraffourg-Robinson, Violin

Violinist Diane Duraffourg-Robinson began her musical life in France. She entered the Paris Conservatoire at age 15 and was a student of Gérard Jarry. Her major teachers also included Jean Fournier, Veda Reynolds, Franco Gulli at Indiana University (Bloomington), Pinchas Zuckerman (Dallas), and Sylvia Rosenberg at both the Peabody Conservatory and the Manhattan School of Music. While at Peabody, she served as Ms Rosenberg’s teaching assistant.


Her solo and chamber music appearances include performances with the Baltimore Symphony, Concertante di Chicago, festivals of Vollore and Herisson, France, the Scotia Festival in Halifax, Canada, the Kennedy Center in Washington DC as well as the Myra Hess series in Chicago. Ms Duraffourg also toured extensively with the White Oak Dance Project--led by Mikhail Baryshnikov, performing the Ravel violin sonata over 80 times. As a performer of baroque music, she studied with Stanley Ritchie, appeared in concerts at the Smithsonian in Washington DC, Musica Rara in Baltimore as well as several other performance practice groups on the East Coast. She is the 3rd prize winner in the International Viotti Competition (Vercelli, Italy).


Currently, she is a member of the Lyric Opera Orchestra of Chicago, and is married to violinist John Robinson.
