This is Chicago and we're fairly hardy people but when the polar vortex showed up January 30, we stayed home. At least for one day. The following evening we were back at work because it's show biz and a lot of people were coming to our final performance of La Bohème. At least it had warmed up from -23 degrees (with a wind-chill of - 52) to somewhere closer to zero. This was the inside of the stage doors that night, January 31.
